Exhibition «Pfahlbauarchäologie in Zürich – 10 Jahre UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe»

It has been ten years, since the “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps” were designated a USESCO World Heritage Site. In celebration of this anniversary, the Department for Urban Development is presenting an exhibition about the two prehistoric sites of Zurich: the “KleineHafner” and the “Alpenquai”.

The exhibition will be shown at the “HauszumRech”, from April 13th through June 12th, 2021. The show will give insights into the beginnings of the pile dwelling archaeology in Zurich, at the “KleineHafner”, from the 1960’s to the 1980’s. The exhibits go from the oldest to the youngest pile dwelling site, which is located at today’s “General Guisan-Quai,”  with historic and contemporary photos, videos, reproductions and real artifacts, as well as a selection of diving equipment from the old days, to today.
